“…So take the photographs and still frames in your mind.” – Lubbock Senior Photographer

October 28, 2009

Well…”what have I been up to?” Pretty much photography and school!! I have been so busy lately with both and it’s great. Well…busy with photography is good and not so good to be busy with school. This is Jared. He is a senior at Lamesa. I had a great time getting to know him and listening to his guitar playin’ during our session. I was so excited when I saw him pull the guitar out of his pickup. I love it when my clients bring something like this to use in a session. It really makes the images so unique, and not to mention it is pretty fun get to tell your client…I just want you to sit there and play something for me. As you all know from my past post, music has special place in my heart and getting a personal concert is pretty awesome. Thanks Jared, and Berenda, it was so great to meet and hang out with you two!

“…Mm, she’s hot as a pepper but smooth as a mexican brew…” – Lubbock Wedding Photographer

October 26, 2009

PJ & Michelle are some of mine and John’s best friends. John as known PJ for ten years or more, and Michelle came to Texas from North Dakota about two years ago. Michelle is a veterinarian down in Lamesa, and that is where these two met. I just love these guys and had so much fun taking their pictures. PJ lives and works on Indian Canyon Ranch in Gail, so John and I went out to the ranch to spend the afternoon. We had a pretty exciting day. I had a senior session and then took PJ & Michelle’s engagements. We did a little wild hog hunting and rode some four wheelers before PJ grilled some pretty awesome steaks and Michelle cooked some great zucchini cake. It was so good!

So check out these two…oh and PJ…name that song from the title-“…Mm, she’s hot as a pepper but smooth as a Mexican brew…” You guess it and I’ll give you a dollar…ha-ha!!

“My-Tunes Monday” – Lubbock Wedding Photographer

October 26, 2009

I have a special place in my heart for Christmas songs. I have been caught listening to Christmas songs in July, and I am not ashamed. One of my favorite Christmas CD’s is Sarah McLachlan’s Wintersong. It is a beautiful compilation of songs. They all make me feel like I am floating through a snow covered field. So…Christmas is around the corner whether you want to believe it or not folks…go get yourself in the mood…check out this CD. Isn’t she incredibly beautiful!!

P.S.—I’m listening to it right now!!

“What I’ve been up to Wednesday” – Lubbock, Tx Photographer

October 21, 2009

This past weekend, in the midst  of all my boudoir ladies, I went out to Post to catch the Tom Butler Memorial Bronc Riding. It was so much fun…John and I went to it last year and it definitely does not fail to impress. These guys are great bronc riders, and there are some pretty awesome little kids as well. The little ones had a Shetland Bronc Ride…it was hilarious!!! Our little nieces, Jenna & Kara, got to come along as well and had a great time!! Check them out…

“…Sometimes I wish I lived in an Airstream…” – My-Tunes Monday

October 20, 2009

Music means so much to me. I don’t think I could go a day without listening to my music and belting out right alongside the artist. I sometimes pretend I am that musician and image what it would be like to get to sing for a living. I am a singer…I may not be famous or get paid for it…but, I am a singer. That’s what I wanted to be when I was a kid and…well…I still would love to be a singer. I am not the most eloquent writer and I have a very hard time explaining how I feel about things, but music…music has always been a way for me to explain how I feel about something or someone. That may be kind of lame…ha-ha…but It’s the truth. I would love to be music video producer as well as a singer, chef, salon owner, restaurant owner, musical writer, goat rancher, set designer…ha-ha…and so many more!!! I know…I know…I have a ton of things I want to achieve…maybe too many for a lifetime…I guess we will see what all I can accomplish!! I play a music video in my head every time I hear a song. No…not the actual music video…but my very own…the one I will produce someday when I am a producer, and sometimes, in life, I image everyone breaking out into song, like a musical! Ha-ha…Wouldn’t that be great!! Ha-ha…I am pretty lame aren’t I…oh well…I wanted to start these special post for you all to get to know me more personally…well this is a little piece of who I am.

I talked about the new Miranda Lambert CD last week and I have not stopped listening to it yet. But, one song has really caught my attention, “Airstream Song”. I love this song because I have been trying to talk my husband into buying and living in a travel trailer on a big piece of land since we got married. I really get overwhelmed sometimes with all the chores that come along with owning and possessing so many things. Wouldn’t it be awesome to just live simply…to only have the necessities in life? I love the idea of living in an Airstream…then we could enjoy this life so much more. Maybe that’s just me…but I almost have him…as soon as I graduate from grad school we plan on sealing our house. Whether we stay here in Lubbock or move on to a new town, we are going to sell our house and downsize. I am not sure if it will be to a travel trailer or just a smaller house, but smaller sounds awesome!!

Sometimes I wish I lived in an Airstream
Homemade curtains, lived just like a gypsy
Break a heart, roll out of town
‘Cause gypsies never get tied down

Sometimes I wish I lived on a mountain
Drank from a stream instead of a fountain
I’d stay there, top of the world
But I was born a red dirt girl

Unbridled or tethered and tied
The safety of the fence or the danger of the ride
I’ll always be unsatisfied

Sometimes I wish I lived by a pier
In a lighthouse with a chandelier
I’d watch everybody’s ships come in
And then I’d sail away with them

Unanchored in the storm
Or safely on the shore
If this is all I need, why do I want more

Sometimes I wish I lived in an airstream
Homemade curtains, lived just like a gypsy

I love this song…every time I listen to it I image John and I on a beautiful piece of land with a river running through it, a few goats wondering about, a couple horse grazing and a beautiful shiny Airstream with a big deck attached to the side lit up with white Christmas lights…can’t you just image it….ha-ha….WOW…when I write it out like that it really sounds pretty….um….trashy?!?! Ha-ha….let’s just call it simple!!! Let’s all try to live a little more simple…it just might help save the planet!!

Hey…how about an airstream community…ha-ha…anyone want in?

“Showcase Sunday” – Lubbock Boudoir Photographer

October 18, 2009

So, I decided to show all of you what I have been working on this past summer! I have a huge 600 sq. foot room on the back of my house that I am converting into a Boudoir Studio!! I have done so much to make this room just perfect for boudoir. This room used to have rough dark brown/grey paneling and bare concrete floors with a very old wooden frame window. I ripped all the paneling out (with the help of my husband and dad), painted the floors, replaced the window and custom built some furniture. I still have a lot to do but, I am about ready to shoot my very first boudoir session here!! I am so excited about my plans, and I want your ideas as well. Please comment below and tell me what you would like to see in my adorable studio space. I have been hunting and searching for some awesome unique furniture to fill the space and use for boudoir sets so if you have anything you think would be an awesome addition…let me know!! Here are a few of my recent finds as well as a wide angle view of one of the areas in my studio…once I get everything organized and in its place I will show you more!! Let me know what you think!!

“Philosophy Phriday” – Lubbock, Tx Photographer

October 16, 2009

Here lately I have been doing a lot of boudoir sessions. I am falling in love with boudoir photography. It is so great to be able to do something for women and make them feel beautiful. We, as women, tend to tear ourselves apart too much. Your husbands or boyfriends love you and think you are beautiful…embrace it!! This has just been on my mind lately because I have noticed that every girl I talk to about setting up a session either says they need to stop eating until there session or start working out. Now I know…I know…we all want to look our best…I get that…but, we need to start thinking of ourselves as beautiful right now…this very minute. I am a huge fan of Dove’s Campaign for real beauty. That campaign is the very reason I use Dove products now. You have to watch their video on how a person is “perfected” for a photo shoot, it will amaze you!!

“What I’ve been up to Wednesday” – Lubbock Texas Photographer

October 14, 2009

So for the past week and a half my little nephews, Caleb & Colt, have been here hanging out with my mom and me. I had so much fun playing with those two little boys. I really miss them now but, they had to go back home to their Mom and Dad in Belton. We did so much stuff, like the fair and the fire station, which you all have already seen, but for their last night here we went out to The Maize! It was so much fun and Caleb had a blast. Colt had fun too but by the time we made it out of the maize he was sacked out…ha-ha!! Here are a few shots I took of Caleb riding the cow train and sippin’ on some hot chocolate. Aren’t they the cutest…=)!!! I really need to go see my little nieces soon. They just live 15 minutes away and I feel like I never see them! Okay…Goal for this week…see Jenna and Kara!! Oh and this Saturday, at the Post Rodeo Arena, is the Tom Butler Memorial Bronc Riding. John and I went last year and it is so much fun. You should try and head out there. They have some awesome bronc riders and a Shetland bronc riding…it is awesome…those little kids can ride!
