Well, John and I headed out of town the other weekend…destination…hill country. My Great Aunt Kathleen has a vacation home on the Blanco River in Wimberley and we have been going to it since I was a baby! It is so great to be able to go with my husband now and have an incredibly relaxing and inexpensive vacation! We pretty much cookout, swim in the river, eat out, swim in the river, go to Gruene and…swim in the river! I have been wanting to go to the Wimberley Trade Days for a while now and we just happened to be there on the weekend it was taking place. I found some pretty interesting people to talk to and things to buy!

Yes people…this was with a wide angle lens! They always come right up to you in the backyard.

One of my favorite things to do on vacation is get John to walk around with me in the dark and find things to photograph!

You may remember this little cowboy. This is only the second time I have photographed him but, I have been photographing his family for a few years now. He is so happy and easy going. I just loved getting him to laugh because his smile is so sweet. I have a feeling he is going to be cowboy. Already has the wranglers, a shiny belt buckle and some tiny spurs!!

The way these two look at each other gives me chills. I met Desri several months ago when she emailed me up and asked if I could be her wedding photographer. I am so happy she did because Desri and Jason are two of the most in love couples I have ever met. They make everyone around them at ease and made me feel like I was a part of their family. The other day John came in and said, “You want to go pick some corn?” HaHa, I know some of you may think I’m crazy, but I was so excited. So we loaded up and headed out to Randy’s (one of John’s friends) field and proceeded to pick…corn that is! It was so much fun to do something different and that corn is good folks.

Randy and John were eating that stuff right in the field and they made me try it too!

Here’s Randy. He’s the one that let us come pick some corn. Thanks Randy!

There were huge disgusting worms in there. So John pretty much took care of that part!

Sometimes you meet up with a couple that you instantly click with. Well, that was Emily and Josh! I had so much fun with these two and felt like we were old friends. You can instantly tell how much Josh is in love with Emily. It was their 1 year anniversary and they brought the top of their wedding cake that had been frozen. We decided to do some fun cake-in-the-face shots since on their wedding day they opted for the sweeter version. ha-ha! It was so much fun to do something different. Most of you know, but lately it has been raining a ton here in Lubbock. Well…that makes for some pretty awesome cloudscapes! I love when the sun is shining, the sky is blue and there are clouds everywhere. So beautiful. I took these shots on the way home from one of my sessions the other night. I pulled over on the side of the road and everyone that drove past was looking in the direction I was shooting wondering what the big deal was. Dusk has got to be the best part of the day. Everything starts to wind down and it makes you sit still for a minute. We get so caught up in the craziness of life during the day and forget to just enjoy ourselves. Dusk is my reminder that there is more to life than a to-do list.

I cannot say enough good things about this couple! Keely and Blaze were so much fun to work with, and I felt like a part of the family all day at their wedding.
